What do you like about synthetic biology?
I have always been very fascinated by the complexity of nature - all the elaborate solutions that has been tailored to specific environments. I think that we’ve only scratched the surface when it comes to describing molecular biology. When working with synthetic biology, I get a chance to utilize the impressive toolbox that is nature itself. There is so much unbroken ground within the field, and it inspires novel ideas and creative thinking.
What do you do in your spare-time?
I love to hang out with friends and family.
Why did you choose to study the specific bachelor/master that you’re studying?
I hold a bachelors degree in human life science engineering, and I’m currently studying a master in Biotechnology. I choose biotechnology because it gives many possibilities to get in the lab as well as do interdisciplinary work.

What do you like about synthetic biology?
Synthetic biology makes it possible to utilize state of the art advances in biotechnology and biochemistry and expanding their opportunities by standardizing them to be more easily applicable.
What do you do in your spare-time?
In my spare time I like to travel as much as I can and see new places. I also like sports, especially running and martial arts.
Why did you choose to study Human Life Science Engineering?
I have always had an interest in biology and chemistry, so there was really nothing to think about when it came to choosing what to study. During the first couple of semesters it also became clear that it was development of medicines that I was the most interested in.

What do you like about synthetic biology?
I really enjoy working in the lab and learn new techniques along with the inherent troubleshooting. In addition, I like the idea that synthetic biology can help solve real life problems for humans as well as for the environment.
What do you do in your spare-time?
In the limited spare-time that I have between studying and my part time job I love to be outside observing nature, hangout with friends and family or relax watching series.
Why did you choose to study Biotechnology for your Msc.?
I have a degree as a laboratory technician so an engineering degree in Biotechnology felt like a natural extension in the same field.

What do you like about synthetic biology?
I love that is gives a lot of opportunities to solve the problems of the world.
What do you do in your spare-time?
In my spare time I love to travel, I have a specific love for the city Paris and all that it has to offer. When I’m not travelling I do yoga and bake cakes.
Why did you choose to study the Human Life Science Engineering?
I wanted to get an education with a lot of different possibilities which is why I decided to be an engineer. Human Life science engineering at DTU was just the perfect match for me.

What do you like about synthetic biology?
Synthetic Biology is the best example of how basic biology can rapidly evolve with the use of engineering. It is really amazing how someone can design and improve biological systems that can have a great impact on society and human evolution.
What do you do in your spare-time?
In my free time I love traveling, reading books and solving puzzles! I am also really keen on forensic science, from reading articles (scientific or not) to watching movies and series like CSI, NCIS and so on..!
Why did you choose to study Pharmaceutical Design and Engineering for your Msc.?
Having a bachelor in Molecular Biology and Genetics, the Pharmaceutical Design and Engineering MSc would be a great field to apply this knowledge in a direct way for the society. The need for new and more effective drugs is constant and through this MSc I could be a part of this process. Moreover, being a student at DTU and becoming an engineer makes studying much more interesting!

What do you like about synthetic biology?
The evolution of all living things has always been a great interest of mine, with synthetic biology you get to create your own organism. You get to experiment with the building blocks that nature has given you. It is spectacular to be in the part of the human evolution where we have become smart enough to alter evolution itself.
What do you do in your spare-time?
I play computer and watch netflix.
Why did you choose to study biotechnology?
As said before evolution has always fascinated me, from this a bachelor and master in biotechnology is one path to take.

What do you like about synthetic biology?
I honestly didn’t really know what it was, but glowing fish are pretty cool.
What do you do in your spare-time?
I spend most of my spare time on fitness and health, dividing it between gymnastics and weightlifting.
Why did you choose to study electrical engineering?
The digitalisation of our world opens up for opportunities of efficiently helping more people. Developing cheap, yet effective, biomedical devices can truly impact the world and save lives.

What do you like about synthetic biology?
Synthetic biology is an exciting and innovative field. I love the creativity and the possibilities of making a better world through it.
What’s your favorite kind of music?
I listen to almost everything, depending on the situation. Most of the times, I relax to deep house and hip-hop music.
Why did you choose to study Bioinformatics and Systems Biology?
I chose my Master’s programme because I felt that bioinformatics is the way to gain more information and conduct research about biological systems, in a future ruled by computers. The university was an easy choice, since DTU is a great place to study and meet new people.

What do you like about synthetic biology?
Synthetic biology can be used for so many cool things - it can tackle both large and small problems, and can be fitted perfectly to one's specific problem.
What do you do in your spare-time?
I love to spend time with my family, often spending time traveling and baking cake.
Why did you choose to study Bioinformatics and Systems Biology?
During my bachelor I was reintroduced to programming and software engineering. Studying bioinformatics seemed like the next logical step in combining my bachelor in chemistry with my love for software.

What do you like about synthetic biology?
Synthetic biology is great because it combines the exciting and unpredictable world of biology with the standardisation and predictability of traditional engineering disciplines.
What’s your favorite kind of music? My music taste is quite weird. I listen to a lot of asian music actually, such as japanese rock (j-rock) or k-pop. The asian pop culture is so different from the western, which is apparent in, for example, the way romance and love is portrayed in asian music.
Why did you choose to study Human Life Science Engineering?
I initially wanted to gain an insight into how to develop and predict the behavior of pharmaceuticals. Although pharmacokinetics is not my primary interest anymore, I’ve still benefitted a lot from learning how the body functions and reacts to different substances

What do you like about synthetic biology?
That it allows you to explore opportunities that weren’t there before. Consider that we now are able to utilize different properties of cells to produce or degrade compounds that we need-/ get rid of, something that were once restricted by our dated molecular tools
What’s your favorite kind of music?
I have no favourite music, I use music to amplify current emotions and have a wide range of what I’m willing to put my ear to.
Why did you choose to study Bioinformatics and Systems Biology?
I did so because I felt I had to legitimize my existence towards others, that having an education would do that. I realized that by replying ”I study at DTU”/”I’m an engineer” to questions inquiring what I do, got me recognition. Why biotechnology then? I had an interest for life and human health and aimed to study medicine, but didn’t have the grades.Now, I realize that there is no other place I rather be, but here, at DTU, gaining insight into myself
and everything around me.
